- Introduction

The Rural Teachers Support Plan provides free AI English courses to rural teachers, to help them improve their teaching methods.

- Development

As of December 2018, the Plan provided courses across China (except in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), supporting over 2,000 teachers in remote areas.

- Effect

After six months of immersion in the Plan, 518 teachers attained the third level in the Placement Test, of which 61% jumped one or more levels. All teachers who applied themselves made significant gains in English pronunciation, accuracy and fluency.

In 2018, the first CIIE was held in Shanghai, organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. In order to fully represent China’s diverse ethnicities, Liulishuo created a dedicated English language training program, providing tailor-made oral English courses to more than 5,000 volunteers. These AI English teachers helped volunteers to use improved English ability to better serve the CIIE.

In June 2018, Liulishuo launched the charity event “Don’t be afraid, I’m here”, aiming to improve the psychological welfare of left-behind children, in partnership with the Sina Yangfan Plan and the World of Art Brut Culture. The event attracted more than 100,000 people, and collected more than 250,000 English fairy tales record for left-behind children. This event drew attention to left-behind children, and granted them more opportunities.

In November 2017, Liulishuo launched “Learning Hours for Donation of AI English Courses”, with the well-known educational charity Teach for China. During the event, one AI English course was donated to students at schools in Teach for China’s Teaching Project list for every five minutes of learning by Liulishuo users. During the program, 48,087 people enrolled and a total of 157,232 courses were donated, providing 2,000 rural students with full one-year AI English courses.
